Update for 12z aviation discussion

Previous discussion... /issued 250 am CDT Wednesday may 16 2012/

Skies are mostly clear across much of the forecast area early
this morning with temperatures ranging from the middle 50s to middle
60s. A cold front currently extends from Northeast Indiana through
central Missouri and into southeast Colorado. This front will move
south today and weaken some. Some showers and thunderstorms are
expected to develop ahead of the front with a small chance of this
activity moving into extreme northern sections of the forecast
area this afternoon and this evening. Otherwise most areas will be
dry with temperatures a couple of degrees above normal.

The front will push through the forecast tonight and continue to
weaken. High pressure will build into the eastern Great Lakes
Thursday. This will keep dry weather over the forecast area from
Thursday through much of the weekend. An isolated shower or
thunderstorm is possible during the afternoon or early evening
hours both Friday and Saturday but chance remains small.

By Sunday a cold front will be slowly moving across the plains
states. Some of the showers and thunderstorms expected to develop
ahead of the front may reach northwest sections parts of eastern
Arkansas and the Missouri bootheel during the afternoon. The front
will move into northwest Arkansas Sunday night with a threat of
thunderstorms over the northwest half of the forecast area. By
Monday the front will move into the forecast but will be weakening
so there will only be a small chance of thunderstorms across much
of the forecast area.

By Monday night...what is left of the cold front will remain over
the forecast area leaving a continued chance of isolated
thunderstorms for both Monday night and Tuesday.

12z taf cycle

Aside from some patchy morning fog at kmkl and ktup expect VFR
conds through the period. Winds will generally be light northwest
today then light/variable or calm tonight. A weak front will move
into northern areas early this evening. A rain showers/thunderstorms and rain is possible
but chances are too low to include mention in kjbr or kmkl tafs.
