NWS Forecaster Discussion

Area forecast discussion
National Weather Service Midland/Odessa Texas
723 PM CDT Tuesday may 22 2012

Update...
update to adjust probability of precipitation.

&&

Discussion...
thunderstorms continued to develop near the Glass Mountains...
southwestward to near Persimmon Gap in an area of upslope flow and
modest instability. The better moisture lie further east...and will
likely return westward too late for scattered to numerous storms to
occur...especially since there does not appear to be any middle level
support to erode a strengthening cap. A storm or two more will be
strong...if not severe...due to around 30kt of 0 to 6km bulk
shear...but the overall trend will be for weaker storms as the sun
sets and instability wanes. Will send an update to adjust probability of precipitation...
which will be relegated mainly to Brewster County for the next 2
to 3 hours. Southerly winds will persist overnight and keep
minimum temperatures on the mild side...except along the Pecos
River in New Mexico where lighter winds in the drier air will
allow temperatures to drop beneath mostly clear skies. The update will
follow shortly.
