... Winter Weather Advisory now in effect until 10 am CST this
morning...
The Winter Weather Advisory is now in effect until 10 am CST this
morning.
* Timing: scattered pockets of snow and sleet... along with patchy
light freezing drizzle... will continue early this morning. Only
trace amounts of additional snow and sleet are expected but
slick roadways will continue to be seen until temperatures rise
above freezing later this morning.
* Main impact: some roads... especially untreated bridges and
overpasses... will be slick and hazardous during the early
morning hours. Slick conditions will also be seen on untreated
sidewalks and parking lots. Conditions will improve toward and
during the afternoon... but any remaining slush or puddles will
refreeze tonight.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Be careful if you have to travel this morning. Even small amounts
of ice and snow can make roads and sidewalks slick and dangerous.

Area forecast discussion National Weather Service Norman OK 439 am CST Monday Feb 13 2012 Discussion... last of any accumulating snow/sleet will be passing through north- central and central Oklahoma before daybreak. Farther south... pockets of snow/sleet/rain will move over western North Texas and southern parts of Oklahoma during the morning. Cannot rule out some patchy freezing drizzle across southwest and west-central parts of Oklahoma early this morning...so went ahead and kept a Winter Weather Advisory going through 10 am for all but extreme west/northwest parts of the state. Temperatures are warming to or just above freezing early this morning and expect most if not all areas to be above freezing by the time the advisory expires. Most reports for this event have been in the expected 1 to 3 inch range but isolated reports of 4 inches have come in. A graphic with the latest totals has been put on our webpage and we will continue to update as additional reports arrive. Brief chance for showers and even isolated thunderstorms late Tuesday into Wednesday ahead of fast moving system. Most if not all of the rain will be east of I-35.
