West Central Mountains
The National Weather Service in Boise has issued a
* Flood Warning for
the Weiser river near Weiser river near Weiser.
* From this morning to Tuesday morning... or until the warning is
* At 5:00 am Monday the stage was 8.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 9.5 feet.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by late this morning and continue
to rise to near 10.2 feet by this evening. The river will fall
below flood stage by early tomorrow.
* Impact... at 10.3 feet... floodwaters will approach the Cove Road
bridge over the Weiser river making it unsafe to cross.
... Flood Watch remains in effect until noon MDT today...
The Flood Watch continues for
* a portion of west central Idaho. This includes the following
areas... Boise Mountains... upper Weiser river and west central
* Until noon MDT today.
* Heaviest rain and greatest threat of flooding is expected
through noon MDT today. The area of greatest concern extends
across the west central Idaho mountains... Boise Mountains... and
upper Weiser river Basin. A cold front this morning will also
bring a slight chance of thunderstorms. Rain will decrease this
afternoon... and the snow level will drop sharply... ending the
threat of flooding. There will be a lag of several hours before
the main Stem rivers crest but all rivers are expected to remain
below flood stage.
* Rainfall and snowmelt may lead to flooding of creeks...
ditches... and storm drains. Additionally... mud... rock and
snow slides... or debris flows may occur in steep terrain and
on burn scars. Main Stem river flooding is not expected at
this time... but rivers will be running high. Persons near the
Weiser river at Weiser should be on alert as the river is
forecast to crest near bankfull Monday evening.
