The National Weather Service in Portland has issued a high wind
watch... which is in effect from Saturday afternoon through late
* Winds: coastal communities... south winds 25 to 35 mph with
gusts 50 to 60 mph. Near beaches and headlands... 30 to 40 mph
with gusts 60 to 70 mph.
* Timing: beginning mid to late afternoon on the central Oregon
coast and late afternoon to early evening on the South
Washington coast. Winds will decrease a few hours after midnight
* Locations include: Lincoln City... Newport... Cape Foulweather...
Yachats... Florence... Astoria... Cannon Beach... Tillamook...
Netarts... Pacific City... Raymond... Long Beach... Cape
* Impacts: the winds may cause local tree damage and result in
local power disruptions. Travel may be difficult... especially
for high profile vehicles.
A high wind watch means there is the potential for a hazardous
high wind event. Sustained winds of at least 40 mph... or gusts of
58 mph or stronger may occur. Continue to monitor the latest
