Marine weather discussion for the Gulf of Mexico...Caribbean Sea
and southwest north Atlc S of 31n W of 55w.
Gulf of Mexico...
high pres centered N of the Gulf will move E of the area through
Mon night. Fresh to strong NE winds prevail over the Gulf as
depicted by the latest ascat...ship...and buoy data. Winds will
veer and diminish through the overnight hours. Se return flow
will set up over the western Gulf by Mon morning...and as the
high pressure center continues shifting E...the southerly winds
will spread across the entire Gulf by Mon night. A weak cold
front will move off the Texas coast Mon night. The front will
move across the northern Gulf Tue and stall from the Florida Big
Bend region to the central Gulf by Wed morning. The frontal
trough will then lift N on Wed. Another cold front will move off
the Texas coast early Thu and extend from se Louisiana to NE
Mexico Thu afternoon and E of the area Fri night.
SW N Atlc S of 31n W of 55w...
a cold front extends from 31n62w to the Windward Passage. Recent
ascat pass indicates gale force winds W of the cold front. The
front will continue moving E and will shift E of the area by Mon
night. Winds are expected to diminish below gale force by Mon
morning. Large swells up to 20 ft are noted over the N part of
the area. The swells will gradually diminish...to below 8 ft
across the area by Thu. High pres will build in the wake of the
front. A weak cold front will brush the far N portion of the
area Wed and Thu. Southerly return flow will increase over the
NW part of the area by Friday morning ahead of the next cold
expected to move off the se coast of the United States Fri
afternoon.
Caribbean and tropical N Atlc...
a cold front extending from the Windward Islands to Honduras
will shift E and reach from Hispaniola to Nicaragua overnight
where it will stall and dissipate through Tue. The front will
brush the NW portion of the tropical N Atlc zone early Mon where
it will stall and weaken through Tue and dissipate by early Wed.
High pressure will build in the wake of the front N of the area
through midweek with moderate to fresh tradewinds prevailing. A
frontal boundary will move into the NW part of the area Fri
night.
